day 9 (final day)

today felt like a sad kinda day, where all the fun comes to an end. but we started the day by talking, then we went into doing pottery. we did pottery for a couple hours cause we only had one weel. we ate lunch. then we played a little game and for the rest of the afternoon we worked on finishing either glass or embroidery.  and that's what we did today.

Day 8

We had a great day despite a few things not happening the way we expected. We were intending to work on our stained glass projects. However to tool we needed has not arrived. So instead we watched to final episode of building castle and finished our embroidery and chainmaile projects. Then we prepared our presentation for the J-Term exhibition. Then in the afternoon we played a game that Jonah invented to show the unfairness of the old hierarchy. I personally think was great game, I was the king, and as king I changed the rules as I saw fit. Everyone else thinks I am a bad king.

Day 7 (Movies, Religion, and Arts) By Jonah Lawrence

In the morning, we worked on our art pieces, which included stained glass, embroidery, and chainmail. I had some trouble cutting out slanted and curved pieces. After lunch, we watched Monty Python and the Quest for the Holy Grail. It was a comical movie that still showed many aspects of Medieval life. After the movie, we listened to a presentation by Kat Kuntz about Catholicism, which was the main religion in Medieval Europe. It was very insightful into the workings of the Catholic Church.

Day 6

We started today off by watching another film on building the castle Up until we left for Sword to Sword. Sword to Swordis a place where they work on fencing and HEMA. Hema is a medieval style of sword fighting which is what we were working on today. We had lunch a bit late today because we got back late for Sword to sword. later in the afternoon we were all working on different thing I worked on stained glass which is what most people worked on.

Day 5 (Mia Franks)

we started today by watching a slideshow about how to make glass windows/how to sawder. then we spent the rest of the morning trying to do sawder.  we had lunch. then we returned to the classroom and worked on sawder and/or embroidery for an hour. Then we watched an episode about how to build a castle. while we were watching some of us took notes sometimes and others worked on embroidery even more. then we took a break. did a small game after we did all our chores at the end of the day. then we slowly started going home.

Day 4

We started today off with Mia giving a Presentation on Chainmail, teaching us how to make chainmail.` Some of us already knew how to do chainmail, but most of us had not done chainmail before. then, after we did chainmail for about 1 hour and 30 minutes, Jonah gave us a presentation on what the day in the life of a medieval person would be like. he also gave us a little pop quiz about his presentation, along with a little activity to choose your life as a medieval person. after lunch, we started watching a YouTube series on some people who went to live like medieval people in France and also built a castle like a medieval person would. the castle that they were helping to build was a part of a 25-year experiment to see what living like a medieval person would be like.

Day 3

On day three we started off by working on our embroidery projects for a while. We then talked about the bigger group project and what our plan is. We decided on doing POST OAK in medieval style letters with old aspects to the letters. we then had lunch and I gave my presentation about the MFAH and all the  medieval objects we could go to see at the museum such as religious pieces like Bibles and crosses. We also got to see tapestries and paintings. After that we got back to the school and made presentations on the pieces we saw that were older than the 15th century and reported back to each other.
